Adoption

OK, ladies. This is not what I expected to post AT ALL, but it's crazy where this adoption journey takes you. Brian and I are sitting here looking at the possibility (real? very real?) that we'll be welcoming two sisters!

Brian and I got a call from our agency earlier this week asking this loaded question: were we open to CONSIDERING a sibling group of two under 4. That's all they knew, and were just asking if we'd consider it as there were sisters in a different region from ours. We'd hesitated before with the idea of 1 up to 4, but the idea of 2 under 4 intriugued us.

We talked, and said yes, we were open. Long story short, if it works out we could be travelling for trip 1 around the Nov. 20-ish date if all of the pieces fall into place. There are, of course, a gazillion hoops to jump through, including getting a home study addendum approving us for two, submitting that to CIS, securing the additional money needed to adopt a sibling group instead of one (a disappointingly large number, but one we're determined to figure out) and starting on a lot of paperwork because it's in a different region from where we're currently registered, one that has, apparently, the most particular paperwork requirements in all of that big country of Russia.

The money part is the only thing that's holding us back from saying 100% that we're in 100% - but we know we'll figure it out this weekend, some how, some way.

Come along for the roller coaster ride, won't you? We fully realize the potential exists for disappointment and for things could go awry, but we're feeling very hopeful. We are aware of the risks we're opening ourselves up to, but feel they are mitigated and that this is what we're supposed to do.

And yes, we're sitting here brainstorming a second girl's name. We're that excited. It's that gut thing, you know?

OMG. I think I'll go puke or dance. Or both.

WOW!!!!! I'm so glad you are hopeful. I know you have been waiting for this. And two girls!!! I hope you can work it all out. I have the feeling that you will make yourselves work it all out. And I would vote for dancing, rather than puking :-)

WOW! WOW! WOW! How exciting! If these girls are meant to be yours, God will help you to move mountains to get them, the money will be figured out, and everything will fall into place. Prayers and positive thoughts coming your way and also for the little girls.
