I'm so frustrated with myself right now...I have a tendency to read too far into things. As of right now our program has 40 waiting families and 9 potential birth moms. I spoke with one of our contacts at our agency about getting our profile done - she said "Oh, no hurry! You have plenty of time..." which my Pollyanna side immediately interpreted as meaning that there's a BM the could possibly be a match, but she wasn't far enough along to look at profiles. It took me half a day befor the Debbie Downer side realized that it more likely meant there isn't any sort of match on the horizon. I'm going to drive myself crazy if I keep doing this...any tips on how not to?!?

I'm a reader-into-things person too, and simply an over analyzer of every.single.possibility in a situation. It can be exhausting and I tell myself not to do it, but I think my brain is just wired that way.

All I can say is to work and react at whatever pace feels right to you. If it feels right to get your profile done and submitted, then rock it out. If it feels right to take your time, do that. There's so little true actionable power for us in this process that I revel when something is truly in my control and I can choose when and how.

I wish I could tell you there was some way not to think about all this, but I really do not think there is.  When you are waiting for something it is only natural to be constantly thinking about it.  HUGS.  If nothing else you are in good company while you wait and over think things!

((hugs))

I'd read into that there isn't anyone right now who they see as a possibilty.

I know with us...we never made a profile since we were "matched" before the HS was even done. So we didn't need to make one.
Then that whole thing came crashing down, and I had to make one.
We were really jaded and debating on whether to even continue.
Our SW called and said "I am showing profile to a PBM in 2 days...do you want to try to make one?"
So.....I spent the afternoon making it.....and got in done in 1 day.
It was a relief to have it done.

Soooo.......my point is-- getting it done and "over with" may help you relax, kwim?

Have you started it yet?
Do you need help?
I have been obsessed with digi scrapbooking latley, and can help.
Let me know :)

Thanks everyone...my profile is actually done, and I ended up ordering just one copy first so I could look it over. Like Holly said...it was something I actually had control over so I've been working on it for quite awhile (all through our application and HS process) and the other night I figured I'd spent about 80-100 hours on it! (granted, some of that was the learning-by-doing part of a photoshop program I wasn't totally familiar with).

Sometimes I think it would be easier to be a glass-half-full person, but I never am when it comes to something *I* want, KWIM?
