Adoption

Brian and I continue to be so excited over this opportunity to adopt two sisters from Russia. The last week has been insane! But, we really hope that early next week we'll be able to start making travel arrangements and be in Russia in early, early December to meet them!

The signs in this are overwhelming and I'll revel in sharing them with you all when I can! We've learned the girls are 11 months apart and we learned Russian names and received a picture mid-week. Last night just after 5 we got some medical information. Brian and I had said there would have to be something hugely awful in the medicals to not travel - and I honestly don't even know what that hugely awful would have had to have been. We're not medical professionals but we don't see anything unexpected or frightening; one of my best girlfriends is a labor and delivery nurse and we talked through some of the information (we got APGARS, birth weights, etc.) so now we just wait for the official international adoption clinic review of the information.

Really our only hold up is our agency giving us the green light; they were holding us off to get medicals before we made our decision, which I appreciate, but we're in, so let's just get moving! :)

Thanks!!!! My aunt is a pediatrician who is involved with the IA clinic here (yahoo!) and she sees nothing in the medicals that was unexpected. So we're full steam ahead! Now I just need to get the agency/Russia to agree on travel dates! Hopefully it will be early December.

We likely will go early December (hoping, hoping!) for trip 1; we hear most of the time families leave this region from trip 1 that they have their court dates assigned for trip 2.

We're actually looking at potentially coming home again after court, leaving them in the baby home for the 10-day appeal/in-country wait period because we also have a 15-day passport wait after the 10 day. So we're looking at court, home and then back to have them for the 15 days before coming home vs. staying the entire time during the second trip - hotel and living in Russia vs. an additional round trip flight. We'll see.
