I can see both sides of this story. But... the toddler was only two, and saying "Go plane, go!" is hardly enough IMO to kick him off the plane. Yikes! Maybe the crew could have done something to help quiet him instead? What do you think?

Southwest apologizes to mom kicked off flight

2-year-old’s ‘Go! Plane! Go!’ and ‘I want Daddy’ screams too much for crew

SAN JOSE, Calif. - A spokesman for Southwest Airlines says the carrier has apologized to a mother who was kicked off a plane along with her unruly 2-year-old earlier this week.

Sounds really familiar ... not the first time an enthusiastic toddler was tossed off a flight.

Seems like overkill to me.  What, are parents of young children never supposed to travel anywhere?

I'd prefer it if people with bad BO didn't fly (especially if they're sitting next to me) but should they be bounced off a flight b/c their lack of hygeine offends me?

Oh man, that makes me worry about flying southwest. My little girl is sweet and quiet, but my son has no built in volume control and gets really excited about everything.

What kind of consolation is "we apologized to her." We kicked her off the plane but we want everyone in the world to know we apologized for doing it? Are they saying they'll do it again, or not?

I'm somewhat surprised that it was a Southwest flight.  I have heard a lot of good things about Southwest and not too long ago my DH and our then 4.5 year old (who also happens to be named Adam) took a Southwest flight and they had a very pleasant experience.  All the flight attendents were really nice to Adam and they even took him into the cockpit with the pilot for like 15 minutes.  DH told me that Adam thought that was really cool.

This story also lacks a lot of details that makes it difficult to comment.  But I also have a 2 year old and I know that sometimes, no matter what you do, there is just no reasoning with a 2 year old.

It seems to be that the issue was that the passengers couldn't hear the safety instructions. That kind of surprised me because the last few times I've flown (always on SW), the safety instructions consisted of "review the flyer in your seat."

I really feel for the mom. A few weeks ago I was on a bus in Disney World going from the Magic Kingdom to my resort. I did what I could to prep my DD for the ride back, but about two minutes into the ride back she starting wailing and would not stop. Toddlers are unpredictable.

(I suppose I could have nursed her, but I'm sure my fellow passengers would have preferred to hear my DD's screams than for me to attempt to breastfeed a 19 month old. ;))
