Hi,

I am pregnant with my second baby and due in March.  With my first, I BF for 12 months and never had to use formula.  I worked FT, pumped, and BF when at home.  With this little one, I will be staying home and I want to BF for at least 2 yrs.  Since I had to pump so often last time, I have no urge to go near that thing again.  Not introducing a bottle at all sounds like a good idea to me...has anyone done this?  I'm wondering if I will regret it if I want a break but can't get one because the baby won't take a bottle! :-p  Any BTDT or advice would be appreciated.  Thank you!

Yep, totally realistic. Just put baby in the sling and call it good! I just had a little hand pump that I used (an Avent Isis) and it worked well for when I NEEDED to have a little something (I was teaching twice a week, for 3 hour-stretches) until she started solids. But if I'd been at home full-time like I will be with this next one, then it wouldn't have been an issue.

Very realistic! If you don't forsee being away from the baby for longer than a couple hours at a time, then no bottles are needed.  And, even if you were away for longer, there are other ways to feed the baby, like with a cup or syringe.  Kellymom.com has great info on that.  Congrats on your pregnancy and good luck!

My daughter has never took a bottle and she is 10 months. I have never thought about wanting to use one. She is old enough for a sippy cup now.

Here's my little BTDT advice...
My little guy is 9 months old right now and has never had a bottle. I don't mind and it never was an issue until recently. I've had a few things come up that would cause me to be away from the house, without the baby, for a few hours or even a day or weekend. I tried to start introducing him to bottles but NOPE. One day he HAD to be separated from me for four hours and I thought he'd take the bottle from someone else if he was hungry enough. NOPE. As soon as he saw me he screamed and literally clawed at me. Poor little guy was so hungry. :(

And so I've tried just going straight to the sippy cup now. I bought a Nuk beginner's sippy cup (soft chewy spout, not hard plastic) but he just chews on it. He doesn't know how to suck on any artificial nipple or anything.

So yes, sometimes I wish I had introduced him to a bottle way earlier just for Dh to feed him when I'd go to the store, and so on.
