Hi Ladies!

I am new here and have a 4 week 5 day old girl who started a growth spurt last Friday night. That seems long for a growth spurt to me, no?? I have been ebf, but as this growth spurt continues I feel like I have less and less milk--doesn't it usually increase your milk supply? I have been taking Fenugreek and drinking Mother's milk tea trying to catch up with her needs. I have been feeding her every hour this morning when she is usually every three hours. So just now I gave in and gave her  a little formula (1/2) ozand she promptly spit it up, so maybe she is getting enough from me??? I don't know--I just can't wait to be through this growth spurt!!

Also, I am totally cracked and bleeding--using Lansinoh, but will they ever heal??? The let down is extremely painful, but then subsides a bit. Any suggestions??

Thank you so much for your help!!!!

Tami

Hi Tami, welcome to the board!

Growth spurts can last a few days.  I'm sure she'll settle down soon.  Just keep nursing on demand and following her lead.

As for the cracked nipples, do you have a pump?  Sometimes puming for a feeding or two and giving your baby the pumped milk will give your nipples time to heal, or least give them a break.  Also, if they don't seem to be heeling with the lansinoh, then try nothing but air.

Your let down will probably feel better.  I know with my son it definitely got my attention, but soon either I got use to it or it got less "noticable".

Good luck!
