HI Everyone!

My dh and I are debating on when we would like to start TTC again.  Here is the background.  DH is almost 34 (Nov), and I will be 35 in Dec.  We have DS1 who is now 27 months and DS2 is 9 months (18 months apart).  It took 18months and 4 IUI's to get pregnant with DS1, but DS2 we got pregnant with the first month of no birth control.  We know we want to start trying by July at the latest, but have also discussed trying in Jan. when DS2 turns 1.  My questions for you in your experience are:

1. (for those of you with more than 2 children): I recently read an article that the author thought going from 1-2 kiddos was more difficult than going from 2-3.  In your opinion, is that true.  In what ways is it easier or more difficult?

2.  In your opinion would the roughly 6 months gained  by waiting until July make a difference in the adjustment ie would the kids being atleast 6 month older when the new ones come make it easier? in what ways.

My concern is that since the older two are so close in age, that third would feel left out (not so close to them) especially if it takes while to get pregnant.  Also, I am not getting any younger.  On the other hand, I already have two young boys 18lbs apart which (as I am sure you undersand) keeps me very busy.

Just wondering about your experiences. Any insights would be helpful.  BTW-ds would start trying now if it were up to him.  Also, I work full time.

Thanks,

Belle

1) My 2-3 was a harder adjustment for us - I had 2 kids to hands/ two parents etc... 3 was harder

2) I don't think the 6 months would make that much of a difference... becasue your 2nd in already over the 1 year mark

I say go for it!  It may take a while... you may have a loss, you are not getting Younger - But don't super analise it.  It will just send your head into circles!   Whenever number 3 arrives will be fine - You will figure it out!  No age gap will be perfect - You will love this babe no matter when it arrives

I did have my 3rd one before my 2nd was 1 and I have to say it was tooo close... but now that she is 15months - Life is easy again!  I am due for number 4 in June... A bigger gap than I wanted.. but I Can't always have my way - The big guy upstairs had other plans for us

Take care and happy TTC!

Lisa

Hi Belle!!

I'm afraid I only have two kiddos, so I can't answer all of your questions, but I will tell you that I am so happy that my two are so close in age. DH and I debated and debated on whether or not we would go for #3, but now that they are 4 and 3, we feel like we're past the window and waited too long. We're now certain that we'll stop at two b/c we don't want that large of a gap. At the time, if we knew we were going to go for #3, I would not have waited. I would've jumped right in. (I also work full time).

I hope this helps!!! And best of luck with your decision!
