I'm so glad that you updated, I've been wondering how you were doing. I do know others who's children have had the Coxsackie virus right before they developed type 1 diabetes. To develop type 1 you need the gene and some sort of trigger, the trigger is never the same. We do not know what caused Kaylee to develop diabetes, but a lot of people can pinpoint an illness that happened right before symptoms started. Medibolic disease and diabetes are two different things. If his antibodies come back negative please do not take that as a he doesn't have diabetes. There are times, an typically very early on, where the antibodies are there yet so they aren't picked up in blood work. I'd encourage you to keep a log book, keep a meter, and check him, randomly, and not always at the same time each day. skip it around and see what you are seeing. One good time to check would be at night, after dinner, before bed. I believe with Kaylee that in the morning her glucose was a lot lower because her body had time to catch up while she wasn't eating, but as the day went on the pancreas couldn't keep up so her bg started to get higher and higher. so random checking would give you a better picture of what is going on rather than checking at specific times each day.
Please keep us updated, and I'm glad you've finally found a dr. that is listening!
