I'm a bit of a lurker too....my 17 year old son (dx: Sept 2004) will be getting the H1N1 shot this year.  I have not, in past, been adamant about his getting the season flu shot, but this time, it's different.  It's specific to this particular viral strain, and he really can't afford to get sick.

I think we'll hold off on this one.  I don't think it's all hype, but I'm not overly concerned.  With things like the flu, I'd rather see my kids build up their own immunity.

H1N1 went through our school last year (cases in all my kids classes), so I have no doubt my kids have already been exposed, and possibly even had minor cases --- they all had minor flu symptoms around the same time as exposure.

If our doctor is concerned and suggests it, I will reconsider; but so far neither our family doctor nor our endo seem to think it is necessary.

The girls have already gotten their regular seasonal flu vaccines.. we are holding off on the H1N1 vaccine until later, if at all.. Kaylee's endo couldn't recommend it.. she said they aren't giving out any information and she doesn't want her patients used as guinea pigs.. so we won't be getting it, for now..
