We stayed here in 2004. Loved it. It's a very large resort, so there are several (four maybe) bus stops strategically placed on the resort. We happened to be fairly close to a bus stop, so it was convenient.
We stayed in the Alligator Bayou section, and it was fine. It's more rustic than the Mansion section, but comfortable. The AB section is the section with the trundle beds.
The pool was great. We got there early one morning (my oldest DS's 9th birthday, as a matter of fact) and we were asked to open the pool slide. We got a Magic Moments certificate and my DS was given a Huck Finn style straw hat. They made a big announcement and the boys were first down the slide. It was cool.
There is a nice playground that my kids really enjoyed. When we were there, they also had catch and release fishing...not sure if that is still available or not.
The food court was great then, and I think even better now. I distinctly remember them having HUGE cookies...LOL We only ate there for a handful of meals, but what we had was good. We ate at Boatwright's too, which is the full service restaurant, but from what I understand, they no longer serve breakfast. We loved breakfast there...they had the banana stuffed french toast, similar to Tonga Toast.
There is a boat that takes you to PO French Quarter, and you can swim in that pool as well. The boat also goes to DTD, which is a very convenient way to get there.
I think you'll really enjoy this resort...it's gorgeous! Happy planning!!
