My son has struggled with BM accidents for years. He is now 5 and getting ready to begin 5K. We have been to a gastroentologist this past year and talked to his pediatrician at length about these issues and both feel there are no physical issues, just emotional. They thought Graham might benefit from a behavioral psychologist, so we took him to see someone and that seemed to help somewhat. He seems to always regress when he starts a new school or is in a new environment. The worst things have gotten is when he began 4K last year. He started having full bm accidents at school. This went on for months and then things finally stopped and he started using the bathroom regularly. He then started having accidents again this summer when he started staying with a friend of mine while I was at work this summer. This again went on for weeks and then he settled in and started doing fine. Now, the past week, he is again regressing maybe due to the anticipation of starting a new school for 5K. We have had him on Miralax, but he is not on it now. I am going to start that back up tomorrow though as I suspect he is starting to withhold again. I am also taking him back to the behavioral psychologist next Friday because school starts next Wed. I have created a social storybook for him around these issues and done reward charts. Any other ideas out there? I am so nervous about him starting a new school and again having accidents during the first few weeks or months.
