Hi there,

This is my first time visiting this board, and I would appreciate anyone's thoughts or opinions.

My daughter's doctor is recommending oxybutynin (aka Ditropan) because of her frequent urination.  Long story with her, and I'm thinking that this medication might be the answer, but I am sure worried about the side effects.  Has anyone out there ever used this medication with their child?

Thanks a ton!

Sincerely,

-Keri

New here, too. My son (who is 11) takes one small white pill before sleepovers. I think it's called dessmopressen or something like that. It's been so long since I've filled the prescript. I forgot the name (and the original bottle went thru the wash...). Anyway, it supposedly reduces the kidney's ability to create urine for short/episodic periods- hence, it's perfect for occasional sleepovers. He uses a weird alarm system at home, that sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. He complains that the morning after he takes the pill, it hurts to pee. Not hurt HURT, but just uncomfortable. He doesn't use it often, and our pediatrician suggested only occasional use. Hope this was helpful. It's certainly been a stressful problem for us, but for his sake I try not to make a big deal out of it.

Hi,

My DD who is 9 started taking it last month in combination with the demopression (DDVAP) and we have seen HUGE improvements.  Instead of waking up wet 7 nights a week it's more like 2 or 3 nights now.  She does not seem to be suffering from any side effects and the positive change in her self-esteem alone is worth it.

Good luck!

Joy
