My son is on a 5g dose.  I put his cup on a kitchen scale and I pour out 5 grams.  With the new bottle, I can't seem to get a good grip on it.  It feels like it is slipping out of my hands.  It doesn't pour easily and then all of a sudden a bunch will come out and I have to spoon it back into the bottle.  Annoying!!!!

We get the generic stuff through insurance, so we still have the round containers. I did notice the new shape of the Miralax bottle at Walmart, though, and I can see why it'd be a problem. It looks like it would be more awkward to hold and balance than the fat, round containers are.

When you have to pay so much for the product in the first place, it'd be doubly painful to end up spilling half of it when the container doesn't balance well in the hand in order to dispense it smoothly. How very aggravating!

Huh.  I didn't know you could still get it by prescription once it went OTC.  I just started buying it OTC.  We use so little of it now that it's not a big deal, and it's easier to not have to run back to the doctor to get a new prescription when the bottle runs out.

Thankfully the generic is still available with prescription. When my dd was using it as her primary laxative, she was using 3-4 bottles a month. She's using it as her supplemental laxative now (she uses the prescription Amitiza as her main laxative), so she "only" uses 1-2 bottles a month now.

My ds also uses the generic Miralax almost every day (and my other two kids use it occasionally), so we still use plenty of it. If we had to pay out of pocket for that much OTC Miralax, we'd be in big trouble! Right now I get 3 bottles of generic for $7.50 with insurance.

We eat a LOT of fiber in our home, but it's just not enough to keep up with my kids' medical problems. I'm just glad there ARE laxatives available, or we'd be in big trouble.
