about the newborn stage?

I am soon to be a second time Mom, but I have no experience with a newborn because DS was just over 3 months old when he was released from the hospital.

Assuming this baby is typical, we will be bringing the baby home at 1 or 2 days old.  DH is convinced that caring for this baby will be SO much easier than it was with DS because of medical issues, but I feel that in away we got off easy with DS.  DS was sleeping through the night when he came home (though I had to get up through the night to set his feeding pump, ect, but he did not need to be awake to eat).  New borns are very needy, am I wrong?

Hailey wasn't to bad at all. She woke up every 3 hours on the dot to eat and would go right back to sleep. When she turned one month she slept threw the night. The only thing I had a hard time doing was putting her down. That is all she wanted me to do. She slept on me and everything. So I never got anything done in the house. What am I talking about I still have trouble getting the house work done. LOL

Congratulations on the soon to be arrival of your second baby!!

I found the lack of sleep the hardest. It seemed like just as I finished feeding him, changing him and getting him back to sleep it was time to feed again! AND I had a good baby!! He slept well! However, it's short lived, I had great help in DH and your body gets used to it. The key is a good routine. At least as much of one as you can in those first few weeks! Let other things go (like cleaning!) and nap when you can (ifyou can with a preschooler!) and ask for help!

Cherish this time, it goes by so quick (as you probably know!)! They are needy, but it's not a bad thing. As tired as I was, I long for those cuddly times again!

Hi, Stephanie! Good to see you again! When did Braden get so big!? For us, the hardest part of the newborn stage was the lack of sleep, like Lisa said. Nadia was a bti jaundiced and very sleepy at first and it was a struggle to get her to nurse. And we were on a tight nursing schedule for the first few days because she was so tiny and jaundiced that she needed to nurse every two hours - not that I needed to wake her up, she was always ready. Adreneline carried me through the first week or so, then I just got into the habit of sleeping when she did, but with Braden, that will probably be tough. Just remember, like a friend told me, it is only a phase and it passes quickly - too quickly! I'm sure you will love being with DD/DS from the beginning!

KUP!

yup, I'm going to say lack of sleep and crying without being able to soothe with the normal things (food, sleep, diaper). I also still struggle with getting things done and it doesn't matter if DH is around or not! In fact, sometimes him being around makes it harder...but that's just him :D

Ruby's been a good sleeper for a long time, with a random night of waking up caused by teething pain or whatever, but I can't really complain.
