It's official, sammy has started teething...and i'm going nuts!!! The ped recommends tylenol and baby oragel every four hours until a tooth appears (if he takes after me it'll be four years...long story).  he hates teething rings or anything cold on his gums and cries uncontrollably for hours.  the tylenol only takes the edge off and i know from experience that baby oragel only lasts a good twenty minutes. He's cranky and makes a puppy whining noise, the ped said from the sound of it it should be no time for him to cut this tooth...well we've been at it for two weeks and no progress. He no longer enjoys his daily walks or his visits to wal-mart or car rides...he'll cry straight through them.  we've tried it all...any suggestions??? And do you think it'll upset him more to go on his weekly visit to grandma's house...he seems not to be happy any where and since his big brother gets to run amuck and bother him i'm not so sure it's a good idea...what do you think?

A lot of moms swear by amber teething necklaces. You can get them on etsy.com

We use Hyland's Teething Tablets (at Walgreen's/Osco/Rite Aid/etc) and they help. Just rub them on his gums. You can also try filling a pacifier with water and putting it in the freezer and then giving it to him. If you have a mesh feeder, you can freeze some breastmilk in there and offer that to him.

HTH!

It is never fun when they are teething. Hailey is teething hard. Teeth are just coming up pretty quick all of sudden. it took for ever for her to get her first 4. I thought she was going to have to gum her food for ever. lol. Just hang in there you will get a break of the fussying at some point. Do tyenol and teething tablets work. I have heard from my ped and from other parents to not use oral jel because it makes it harder for the teeth to come threw. It does help with pain, but it makes the gums to hard which makes the teeth not so easy to come threw. Sense he isn't wanting anything cold you can just put just about any kind of fruit or teeth cookies in a mesh feeder. Hailey loved hers. When Hailey was real little she didn't like the teething rings eigther. She does know that she is a little over one. Any kind hard food such as fruit and teething cookies can help it come threw faster. So the pain can go away. Have you tried a wet wash cloth. Hailey loves a wash cloth. popsicle works wounders. Hailey even took to them when she wouldn't take a teething ring. You can even get the fruit ones. I hope ones of these works for you. If you do the mesh feeder you might want to be ready for a mess. LOL along with the popsicles. Good luck. Oh yea I have also heard of some parents rubbing just a little rum on there gums. Just a drop on your finger. We did do it one time when Hailey was teething before and she did nothing put scream and nothing else worked and she was a happy baby after that. It numbs it pretty good. and If you just do a drop it won't hurt them. I promise. It is a old school thing that they use to do all the time back in the day.

We gave Rhiannon a Otter Pop frozen and just left it sealed up. She has one that is all hers and when it melts to much or she loses interest I rinse it off and put it back in the freezer. The only other thing that helps that she actually likes is the mesh feeder thingy. I freeze some baby food in ice cube trays and then pop a "ice cube" in the feeder. She loves it. The food melts pretty fast so she is feeding herself and soothing herself.
