Ugh, I got my high fertility reading yesterday AM tells me a few days before I o that i am in starting to be more fertile, than once it detects the LH surges which is usually a few days later, i get a peak reading meaning O should happen within the next 12-36 hours. DH of course is out of  yesterday and today (ingrown hair that is painful, we tried this AM and no go). He says he should be fine my tomorrow. Being i will probably O on Friday (maybe Saturday very slight chance of late Thursday,  Would you still go for it? I am just trying to have about  1 1/2 day cutoffs as i am doing supps, some ions, and the no breakfast thing and losing weight (ingender) along with some diet changes (i don't follow their diet, just cut back on salt, potassium (no banannas and limited potatoes and tomotoes, and only red meat like once or twice a month (used to have it 2 times a week). So if without the frequent BD, would you go for it. Timing is not my biggest thing except doing it within 24 -36 hours of O. I guess i could just take sudafed to make sure i am nice and dry and hopefully only give the girls a chance. Would you? Anyone?

I thought I had heard on some sites that abstaining before did favor girls because they are heartier....I don't know, take that with a grain of salt, LOL!  I would still go for it.  You sound like you are kind of doing what I did.  I did the supps, some diet and the sudafed a half hour before.  Do the shallow penetration and a hot bath for DH before if he is up to it.

As for timing, I couldn't tell you when I conceived exactly.  I think we BD all the way through O.

Good luck!!

Well since you asked what I would do, I believe that timing is the number one thing, I really do. Dr. Shettles has been conducting studies since the 70's, that is a long time to gather data. Everything else out there has not been studied that long at all, and alot of it is purely theory, without much if anything being recreated in a lab setting. Maybe this is the statistic nerd in me talking, but I went to grad school for stats and analyze every study that is out there, and most of the stuff on ingender sounds like fluff to me. My DH is also a stats type of guy and is a professor at a major research university, so he conducts his own studies several times a year, and Dr. Shettles stuff is the only stuff he will get on board with. Perhaps because we have had two Shettles successes, we're a little biased!
That said, if I were pretty certain that I would not O until Friday, I would for sure have an attempt on Wednesday. Would it be possible for you two to DTD twice on Wednesday, once in the AM and once in the PM? That way you could lower the sperm count a little and still have at least a 36 hour cutoff. If we decide to ttc a girl, I am aiming for nothing more than a 36-48 hour cutoff. It took us six months to get a boy, DTD on O day every month, so I really think that if I tried a 3 day cutoff, I may never get pregnant.

I wanted to add that I do believe the stuff on alkalinity vs. acidity, so I think that things that help change your body's ph are helpful. Dr. Shettles used to recommend either a baking soda or vinegar douche before DTD because it can help change you ph. I bet when the newest edition comes out, there will be section on things you can take to change your body's ph.

Blah, Erin, that's a tough decision!  It sounds like you kind of want to go ahead and do it, so I say if you're comfortable then do it!  For me, I probably wouldn't.  If I couldn't do it tonight...then I'd just abstain altogether....or maybe do tomorrow AM.  BUT, if I find out tomorrow that this baby is a boy, then I'd say go ahead and BD all you want!  LOL.  Because that would mean that a 3 day cut off totally didn't work for me.  Haha.  Good luck with what you decide!

Yeah, it is a tough decision. I don't even really care about the long cutoff (i just want at least about 1 1/2) as i know on ingender.com alot of them get girls with 1 day cutoff, just that it wouln't be frequent bd. For a girl you either are suppose abstain or do it within at least less than 48 hours until cutoff. Best boy time is 2-3 days in between which is what it would be. Here is the thing, if DH is not ready tomorrow, I dont' want to chance Oing either late Thursday night or early Friday. we shall see. I can't wait to hear how yours turns out. What time is ultrasound?
