My DH is a smoker-1-2 pack a day. So, not only is it killing our budget, but he is showing more outward signs of the effect of smoking, like breathing heavy with no exertion, coughing in the morning, steamy showers make him winded. So if any of you have experience in helping someone, or yourself quit smoking...help!I smoked for years, but once became pregnant with Kolby, dropped them for good. That was hormone related, so I am no help.

Does he want help to stop smoking or are you the one putting forth the effort?

He says he really wants to.. He has tried several times before. I know that some ppl have a harder time than others quitting an addiction, but I find myself wanting to just scream..if you really wanted to quit, you would. LOL, but I know that would not help. That might have all been a little TMI for the question asked.

I was a pack a day smoker and quit about 5 years ago cold turkey and it was HARD.  I know that a lot of people who find it too dificult to quit cold turkey go to their general doctor and get assistance that way with medication.  I've heard nothing but good things about it and I hear that what the Drs. prescribe work better than those over the counter patches or gums.

Best of luck to him. Its amazing how much better you feel just after 1 day smoke free.  With the cost of cigs now, I think had I not quit before, I surely would be forced to quit now.. Aren't they up to near $7/pack?

Good luck
