No, no, a thousand times no.

I don't have a lot of "issues" with hand me downs, but I don't think "everyone gets their own, brand new undies" is an excessivly harsh standard :)

"I think [Peggy] Noonan is at least eight years too late when she laments that faith now trumps competence in GOP politics. It didn't seem to bother her much when a candidate she supported -- the catastrophically underqualified GWB -- was running and citing Jesus as his favorite political philosopher...It's like the old saying: When you lie down with dogs, you wake up with Hucka-fleas..."--Gator

Well, I don't hand down underwear because it seems gross....but, really, as long as it's been washed and bleached, I can't see any reason why it shouldn't be done.   I hand down everything with my kids except for socks, underwear, and sneakers....the socks and underwear because of the ick factor, and the sneakers because in our family they're worn pretty much every day, so by the time they're outgrown they're either ruined or molded to the kid's feet!

The only time I "passed down" underwear was a pair that dd#1 wore under a flower girl dress (needed something completely white) that she HATED.  They just didn't feel good to her and she only wore them for the wedding.  While cleaning our her underwear drawer I found them, dd#2 said "I'll take them" since she had out grown her matching pair and had liked them.

There is something about passing down underwear (and bathing suits too) that just doesn't sit well with me.  I usually take our outgrown clothing to the Goodwill (provided they are still in good shape) but won't take underwear.
