Can anyone tell me their, or their spouse's experience in the AF and any advice or warnings before we talk to a recruiter? Right now we are just going to talk to one, we aren't making any decisions until our son is born in January. Any advice is much appreciated! :)

Welcome to the boards. We are on the Army side of things, so I'm not really familiar with the AF. I think the best thing you can do before going to talk to a recruiter is make a list of questions and be prepared. Do some research about jobs that your DH would be interested in so that he can ask the recruiter about those. Over the next few months, every time you think of a question about the AF, write it down so that you have it with you when your DH does go talk to a recruiter.

My dh retired in Sep 2008 after 27.5 years of service in the AF. I was in the AF for 13 years and our daughter just enlisted. It was a great life for us. Like many "jobs" it has it's good and bad, and every experience is different and just what you make of it.

The reply above me had great advice. Ask questions. It may be hard to give answers that are real specific as experience varies depending on the job and and location and alot of other factors. But it we feel It's very rewarding.
