Confident you "get" the stimulus plan?

Full Disclosure: I LOVE Bob Shieffer. In my book, he is the most trustworthy newsman out there and have heaps of respect for him (even if he is a bit liberal on some points).
Still, I thought the comment below is very telling, because it sums up how I feel about the stimulus. In theory, I think it is the right thing to do, but in practice, when I actually hear about how the money will be spent, I think it won't really work. I wonder if this is because I am only hearing the most "controversial" points of the plan - the media benefits from public outrage, remember - or if it is really filled with ""spending" that should have been addressed in appropration bills.
"Maybe we should be talking to more economists," Schieffer said. "I've been a reporter now for 52 years, covered everything from hubcap thieves to arms control negotiations, and I generally have an opinion on whether the government is doing the right or wrong thing. This thing is so complicated that I'm not sure what is the right or wrong thing."
Whoever is doing the talking, Schieffer just hopes they know what they're talking about.
"We're all feeling our way in this thing," he said. "What scares me is that people in Washington are doing the same thing."
