I am reading Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy right now, it is beautiful.  It was written in the 80s, there is a movie remake of it, but I haven't ever seen it.  The basic plot is, the leading man is in a downward spiral at home, and to make everything better, his schizophrenic sister trys to commit suicide so he must go to her side.  It is a lot of stories from their youth to try and help the shrink help the sister.  Wonderfully written and full of vivid language.

If you like supernatural stuff, I highly recommend House of Leaves.  I cannot really describe it.  It is in a class by itself and is awe inspiring.  It is (seriously) told from the perspective of a guy, who finds a manuscript for a book, written by a blind man, about a documentary.  So it is two (sometimes 3) stories in one.  It is something I would ask everyone to read.  You become part of the story, very very emotional.  Very....something else all toether.  The style is very weird.  Look at it online or at a bookstore and you will see what I mean.

Just finished "The Friday Night Knitting Club".  Good stuff, I guess.  I'd give it an "alright".

The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown - kind of disappointing - a bit too formulaic for my taste after having read DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons, but I'll keep plugging through anyway.

I also just started reading the Lost Symbol.  DH finished it and said it was pretty good - but not as good as the first two.  I have really been struggling to find a book that keeps my interest - ie one that I just can't put down.  I am embarrassed to admit that the last book to actually do that was the Twilight series!  Guess I am an 18 year old trapped in a 37 year old body!  I would actually prefer to be a 37 year old trapped in an 18 year old body - but oh well!

If you like fantasy David Eddings is a good read...the Belgariad and the Mallorean series are excellent.
