I tried to email you, but wanted to say that I will absolutely miss you here.  I was always happy when you posted, and probably agreed with you most of the time.  Also wanted to add that I have learned much from you, and because of your post about your boys and scholarships, we made it a point to put 'not financial based' and we had more applicants, and better, than ever!  We have also convinced quite a few others to do the same for next year :)  Just showing you that you did, in fact make a difference!

I wish you and your family all the best!

Why is it that if I don't live "within my means", there are serious consequences (bankruptcy) for which I am solely responsible, but when the government doesn't live within its means, I am expected to bail it out?

Julie, I hope you reconsider. I really do. Ignore button doesn't make for the liveliest debates, but it keeps the sanity! Lol

I don't want to miss you. I want you to stay.

To Julie also ~

Hee hee, I really hope you return after your break. I loved your words from above:

<<Ok....rant over By the way, I don't believe anything of what I said in the paragraph above...but what if I did, would it be ok for some of us to post things like that and keep going when someone who is Gay on the board asked nicely for it to stop.>>

Elsewhere on the 'net (ykwim ;) I was nastily and unfairly accused of something kinda like that. I have spent my life always empathetic to the gay cause. I went to one of the most liberal universities in the US, have had lots gay friends, lived in Greenwich Village in NY (don't know if you know much about that) for 3 years and never once even questioned the equality of gays. I'm heterosexual, married, love, love, love my dear husband. YET, elsewhere on the 'net, I was lambasted for being some alleged gay-basher! So I understand your note that no matter what you say, ya just can't win!

I enjoy your posts and hope you return after your breather. :)

This post was about Julie.

For the record, many OPs on this board turn into other conversations and debates.  It is not always about the OP.  I am guilty of changing the topic and many on all sides are.   Some people read one thing and it pops something else into their thought process.

Why is it that if I don't live "within my means", there are serious consequences (bankruptcy) for which I am solely responsible, but when the government doesn't live within its means, I am expected to bail it out?
