I know there have been lots of comments about the liberals being sarcastic. I was thinking about it and it is true. Liberals tend to embrace sarcasm. Think Jon Stewart. But what is the Conservative equivalent? Or is there one. What type of humor does the right use? And I am thinking specifically about political humor, not just general humor.

"But what is the Conservative equivalent?"

I keep hearing that Ann Coulter is really a comedienne. So, if that passes as humour, I'm not sure there is a conservative equivalent.

(That's sarcasm btw.)

Ah, but then I consider Dennis Miller to be on the sarcastic side too.  Although definately on the left.  I hadn't htought of him though, good point!

So maybe liberals don't have the monopoly on the eye roll after all!

I think that in the case of Stewart, we're talking sarcasm with a liberal sprinkling of parody/satire. He was at his best last night in a parody of Glenn Beck. Enjoy:

Is Ann Coulter supposed to be a comedian? She says she means for much of her writing to be considered humor. Maybe insult-humor is a genre that might apply to the conservative end of the spectrum if Coulter is a comedian. Joan Rivers tends toward insult-humor, but I think she is much funnier than Coulter. Also, self-deprecating humor like P. J. O'Rourke might be conservative humor. I've seen him on Bill Maher a couple of time, and he was pretty funny.
