I am typing this out mainly to get my own brain organized, but opinions are welcome!

So here is the classes I have left to take at community college before transferring (or the ones I CAN take before I max out on transfer units)

General Chem I
General Chem II
Bio II
Trig
Pre-calc
Computer Applications

6 classes total. I'm not going to try and do it any quicker than 2 semesters. So how do I break it up??

Options:

1. Winter mini-mester : Computers
Spring: Chem I, Trig, Bio II
Fall: Chem II, Precalc

2. Winter mini: none, take it off
Spring: Chem I, Trig, Computers
Fall: Chem II, Bio II, Precalc

3. Winter mini-mester: Computers
Spring: Chem I, Trig
Fall: Chem II, Bio II, Precalc

Basically I am most worried about Gen Chem I. My Intro Chem teacher from last year said it is one of THE hardest classes any science major will ever take. She said if you make it through that, then chem II, organic chem, etc. are "easy" in comparison. If I do option 3, then I have a light load when I take Chem I. But then again, bio II plus precalc sounds like a bad combo too! I'm leaning toward option 2 or 3 right now. Need to decide by Monday.

Okay - turns out I do NOT need the computers class afterall. I will have to take either C++ or Visual Basic at the university, but the only pre-req for those is pre-calc.

It looks like you'll be cruising along and transfering soon.

I'm taking pre-calc in the spring.  This is not a required class, but it will add points to my application to be accepted into the Dental Hygiene program.  I'm a 4.0 student, but any helpful points will be great and give me a leg up.

I'm not taking any summer classes, so I can enjoy my time with the kids before they are both in school full time.

Next fall and spring I'll get into the hard science classes I need for the program.  I have Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology.  All lecture/lab classes.

Also, someone I know who took Chem I said it was easiest taking a math class along with it.  It'll be hard, but they work well together.

I have never taken most of the courses, so not much help. I always find it useful to talk to people who have taken the same class and professor. Sometimes it is amazing the difference that can make.

Calculus is a totally different math, not very intuitive for me. I spent way more time on that class that any other math classes I took in university. I personally think algebra and stats are much easier.

Good luck ! Ann
