I'm a first time mom and my baby boy will be 2 months on Saturday!! YAY!!

But...

For a few weeks now he always scratches at his right eye and sticks his fingers in it. I haven't really thought to much about it, because I check it and theres nothing in it. And he never actually scratches it. And this last week he has been fussy he gets hungry but he crys and wont latch on some times. And before you say hes getting colicky, its not that. Ok so since I have all that out of the way I get to the part thats really freaking me out. So today hes real fussy and only wants to be held and patted on the back well I was walking around the back yard holding him and rubbing his head making him feel better and I feel this little lump a little smaller then a marble... Its kinda squishy and moves a little... It feels like it could be a fatty tumor... I have never noticed it before until now. He has a Doctors appointment the 6th for his 2 month shots and I'm going to ask them about it. A little while ago he took a 15 min nap then woke up screaming I thought he was hungry to I tried to nurse him but he would latch on he just screamed and cryed so I tryed to rock him some but it didn't work I took his temp because he felt a little warm. But it said 98.5 after a while of me holding him and patting his back he calmed down enough to eat and after he ate I gave him 0.4mL of Concentrated Tylenol Infants' drops. It seemed to make him feel a little better. I held him for a bit then put him in his swing. Hes taking a nap right now. But this is really bothering me can you give me any insight on this and what it could be... Should I be really worried or just a little worried? I am going to see if his doctor can get him in tomorrow.

My second Ds now 7 had a small lump on the back of his head that we found shortly after he was born. It was about the size of 1/2 a walnut was firm but squishy, moveable but yet attached. It was diagnosed as a dermoid cyst. Basically when the head plates fused it caused a small cyst. They did decide to remove it although totally benign-just to be on the safe side-but we did not do it until he was 20 months old and I think they decided to do it then b/c he was already having another surgery at the same time. (circumcision don't ask LOL) Obviously ask your doctor about it-we ended up seeing a general surgeon. And if you see anything else that makes you concerned go sooner than later.

hope that helped some

It might be hemangioma. My daughter now six has one on the back of her head. We first noticed it at about 3 months when it was about the size of an eraser. It eventually grew to about the size of a nickel and has been shrinking for the last several years. We were referred to a dermatologist who simply noted it's growth every few months. After a couple of years it no longer needed to be monitored. And we haven't worried about it since. It was recommend it that we wait, because they usually resolve themselves, and if it was still present at all when she reaches her teen years to let her decide if she wants it removed. Since it is completely covered by her hair, it seems unlikely that she will decide to have it removed.

This sounds like what it is. It is firm but squishy and moves but is still attached. I'm glad your sons was benign. I really hope his is to if this is what it is. Thank you for commenting.
