I'm a stay at home of a 3 year old boy and a 7 month old daughter. My son started preschool this September, 2 days a week, 4 hours a day. Since school began he has been sick twice with nasty colds that the whole family then came down with. I'm wondering with the scare of swine flu this year if I should remove him from school. Our community won't have any vaccinations available until Nov. 7, and then only my 7 month old will be able to get it for sure.  I'm concerned that by the time they are vaccinated they will have already gotten H1N1. He loves school, but it is optional for him - since I don't work. I don't want to be paranoid, but I also don't want to put my kids at any unneccesary risk. I would love some thoughts and feedback on this.

I'd leave him where he's at.  Over 90% of people who have been contracting H1N1 influenza have been miserable for a few days and then get over it with no serious complications.  Honestly, I think it's safer to stay in pre-school than it is to get in your car with him every day and risk having a serious car accident.  I love those commercials where the little boy is wrapped in bubble wrap from head to toe and then the mom let's him go outside and play football.  LOL.  We can't keep children in a sterile bubble....we do the best that we can (eg vaccines, if available) and then live out our every day lives.  HTH ~
