My little girl, 2 months old, was born without a gallbladder.  This is called agenesis gallbladder and I just don't know what to expect from this.  It was only found because she was very sick in the NICU and they happened to do an abdominal ultrasound and noticed a cystic formation where the gallbladder is supposed to be.

I was wondering if any of you have heard of this before or know of anyone with a child with this.  Our doctors feel that it will not cause her any problems because the gallbladder isn't absolutely necessary and everything else seems to be functioning fine.

Hi Erin - if they didn't find any other anomalies or malformations, then there's an excellent chance that it won't be a problem in the future. Sorry, though, don't have any personal or professional experience with this condition.
