We just started training DD today. She is a total neat freak and I guess it is going to carry over into potty training. I can tell she has to go because she is whining and holding herself and crossing her legs but when she sits on the potty she won't go. She did it once and she said, "ew...no pee pee...it's messy". So I think she is afraid to be "messy". We praised her like crazy when she did and we are always telling her that the potty is where she is supposed to go pee pee but she just sits for a minute and then says "new diaper". She turned 2 in July and seems really interested other than the "messy" part. HELP! After one day I am ready to give up because she keeps holding it in and crying and getting so frustrated.

you may can try to toilet. dd likes the toilet better than the potty but if i cant put her on it the potty is good enough. sometimes the potty makes the pee splash back up and it can seem messy. i hope that helps

Awww your DD is so cute!  Like the PP said, maybe try a little potty chair instead of the big potty.  She doesn't think it's messy when she goes in a diaper?  Maybe when she goes poop in the diaper, take the diaper into the bathroom and flush the poop.  Show her that it's much neater when it's in the potty instead of in the diaper.

Have you tried taking her to the store & letting her pick out her own pair of big girl panties?  Sometimes just doing something little like that gives them a confidence boost and gets them more interested.
