That is encouraging news. I notice my 92 yo mother is much less harried by things that go wrong now, than was the case when she was 50-something. The worrier I characterized her to be is now a carefree, easygoing spirit. Part of it is due to dementia, but hey, any enhancement of the positive disposition is welcome.

I do think our generation is more health conscious, and I hope we live more active lives into our 90s. I also think we're less religious, and we won't be cooped up, 1/2 alive in a nursing home, and will instead arrange for our loved ones to provide euthanasia. That's the agreement my sister and I have, along with our spouses. I'd much rather do that and have the money spent on young children who have there whole lives ahead of them, than on me when I'm hanging on by a thread.

That's something that we too have discussed. My MIL is very insistent that we not let her be on any type of support, or be miserable in any way. I can't imagine actually having to do it, but DH has promised to "take care of things" when the time comes. I do agree that we seem to be less religious that past generations. I wonder how that will impact all of this. I find the sociological aspect of this generational change to be fascinating.
