Cyberbullying is on the rise... how can you help it from becoming a problem in your home?

Those of you with kids who use the computer-- any other thoughts or ideas?

As much as it upsets dh to have the computer in the living room instead of the office, I have it placed where I can monitor dd. I have the computer password protected so nobody (not even dh) can get on the computer without me knowing. DD does not have unlimited access to it. This will not change as she gets older.

Oh, and dh is locked off of it because he doesn't understand computers and constantly screws things up.

I have to smile at this one! My DH is totally technology illiterate, in spite of our kids trying to teach him over the years (kids are now 18-25 y/o, so they really DO know what they're doing).  We have a desktop that has "issues" that he uses on occasion, but my laptop is definitely hands off!  Sometimes I think he thinks I'm hiding something on it, but the reality of the matter is, I've "unscrewed" too many of his computer messups over the years, and lost enough data - keeping him off my laptop is the only way I can protect myself - kind of like he doesn't allow me to do much more with the car than turn it on - the minute I start looking under the hood, it's a bad thing! LOL

LOL!  I guess that means your DH is cybersafe!

I think it's great to have the computer in a shared living space-- I'm always surprised when I hear about kids having a computer in their bedroom.  I like the password idea, too.

Password also ensures that the occasional babysitter is not sitting online instead of watching my children.
