OMG - one of the workers who is helping H with the upstairs addition put his foot through the bathroom ceiling yesterday. We had torrential rains and my house flooded. My bed got all wet, the couch got wet and there are water stains running down my walls in the kitchen, living room and bedrooms. Our closet got wet also, so I have a ton of laundry!!!

I have been assured that the new roof will be in place (for the most part at least framed out) before the next rainfall. I went to pee yesterday afternoon and when I went to close the door, there was Jim, standing in where the attic used to be and just said, "Hey Jim" and went downstairs to the spare bathroom - thank God we have one!! So, dd17 slept in her sister's vacant room, H slept in dd's room and I slept on the couch. I am dogged tired and have a banging headache!!

I told H to pretend he was on a customer's job and keep it neat. Hahahaha, oh wait, hahahahhaha, oh oh, hahahahahhaha, I can't stop laughing!!! Bwaaahaaahaaaaaaa - AS IF.

It reminds me of a funny story.....years ago we had recessed lighting put in the downstairs and the downstairs bathroom is below one of the upstairs bathroom.  So when they guy was drilling - he drilled right thru and up thru the brand new tile we had laid down in the upstairs bath.  I was so pissed - thank goodness my husband is a saver and we had tile left over - and these guys had to pay it have the floor fixed.  Its funny now - but not funny then.

Good luck to you

UGH! UGH! UGH! I'm so sorry. I hope tomorrow is a better day and things clean up quickly...and the rain stays away for a while.

When you have something like this going on, you just have to go with it. Take it in stride and not let it unhinge you. I was invited to a cocktail open house last night but I chose to stay home and clean my house! There was ceiling debris all over the place. I'm reconciled to the fact that vacuuming will be a daily chore for a while! LOL.

H's worker who is responsible for outside cleanup of nails, debris and keeping my gardens tidy isn't doing such a great job! So last night I swept the patio, wiped down my outside table and cleaned some crap out of the gardens. And I picked up about a dozen fallen. dropped or thrown nails!! As I walked around barefoot I thought, Hmm, maybe not so wise. And I instructed dd to park her car in the road so she doesn't get a flat. Haha - this is going to be FUN.

My friend says, "Wow, you're so calm. How come you're not freaking out on H about doing this on a rainy week??" Well, because no matter how hard and carefully you plan, Mother Nature has her own plan and it doesn't always fit in with yours!! Ain't that the truth? Anyway, it's supposed to be GORGEOUS all weekend, so hopefully my H and his workers will kick butt and get the flooring down so we don't have to be concerned with any more leaks.

Have a great Saturday.

You know, back when I was in middle school, my parents put on an addition to their house and they had to dig a trench for the footers/foundation (my grandpa knew how to build houses, so he was doing the addition and my parents were helping). No sooner did they get that trench dug, it poured and poured and poured rain. They ended up having to re-dig some of the areas and fill in other areas because it kept caving in because of the rain. So, yes, mother nature sure has her own plan on things. All they could do was be out there in the pouring rain and mud, trying to salvage things and just LAUGH as they were working to keep things from caving in TOO much.

I wish you lots of patience with this project...and go put on some shoes!!! :) We don't need you stepping on nails and needing a tetanus shot! ;)
