Thanksgiving is just around the corner and we'd love to know: what does Thanksgiving mean to you? From grandma's pumpkin pie to sitting down to a big family dinner, what are your favorite Thanksgiving moments? Tell us about your best Thanksgiving memory, a family tradition or that special dish that makes the day complete. If only a picture will do your holiday table justice, post it here and let us see how you celebrate!

Your story may be used in an upcoming iVillage Thanksgiving feature.

Hi Wendy!

Thanksgiving in my family growing up was always a double celebration. Not only did family gather to share my mom's perfect sausage stuffing, which we all still make as adults with our own families, but it was also a celebration of my brother's birthday. His birthday seems to manage a direct hit on Thanksgiving Day most years, being the 26th of November, so it's only natural we'd celebrate his birthday on Thanksgiving!

In my home, with or without guests, I really enjoy hearing what each person is thankful for each year. Hearing something as simple as 'being together' to something more personally meaningful such as being proud of themselves for graduating or meeting a personal goal, really warms my heart.

Along with sharing what we're thankful for, we also make cooking a family effort. My oldest dd, a graduate of culinary school, makes fabulous sweet potato casserole, I make the turkey and Mom's stuffing, along with most side dishes. For the past few years I've been making this great Southern Sweet Potato Pie that just melts in your mouth. I look forward to that every year, as does my 20dd. H makes his favorite: creamed pearled onions. That was a traditional side dish in his home growing up. I also make homemade popovers, fresh from the oven, mmmm. And, of course, the best part is having leftovers!

Usually the very next day we begin making or preparing to make our favorite holiday cookies. Yes, that early. I can make a few doughs or batches early and freeze them, saving me work as we get closer to Christmas.

This year, we're heading to NY to spend Thanksgiving with my brother and his family - he's turning 60 this year! Family will be coming in from PA, CT, & WV for this celebration. And my Mom will be coming with my sister from PA - can't wait to see her.  Her alzheimer's has gotten worse, but when we remind her about my brother's birthday and how she's going to get to see all her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids, she becomes very excited about it.
