Stay at Home vs. Work Debate

I'm sure that most have heard about President Obama's idea to extend school days. Do you think this is a good idea? Why or why not? It sounds like it could be helpful to dual income families, but as a sahm, I want my kids home by 3. I also believe that kids have enough difficulty concentrating for 6+ hours a day. Will extending the school day really be good for kids and families? Thoughts?

I could be wrong but I thought the latest news was extending the school year to make summer vacation shorter, not the school hours.

i read this and extending a school year,too.

if he shoots for a 5:00 hour then it's certainly to accomodate WOH families,no doubt. 

i don't support it.  i want the same,fun summers for my kids as i had as do i want flex time in between a school day and the hour their dad comes home to get done what would have to wait for later too.  JMO.     

but hey extended day programs work.  why not fit this in too!

the article is a bit of an op ed...lol. It basically states that the President's intentions are to extend the school days and shorten summer vacation. Off to find a more reliable source.
