am i the only one who still gives kayla milk in bottles? i've been reading on other boards of mothers who wean their babies off bottles at 1YO... kayla is 16mos and still gets 3 bottles/day: one when she wakes for the day, one mid-afternoon and at bedtime (she also eats solids).

i know there's no 'normal' feeding pattern but should i be weaning kayla from the bottle and start putting milk in her sippy cup? she knows how to use a sippy cup but she only drinks water from that during meals and whenever she is thirsty. any advice would be great!

TIA!

You're not the only mom! We were doing exactly the same until last week. Morning bottle, nap bottle and bedtime bottle. A week ago we decided to drop the bedtime bottle. We had already reduced it to half because he was constantly peeing thru his diaper (he took a lot of water at dinner time). Then, with his ear infections last week he wasn't drinking his bottles so we seized the opportunity. He seemed to not even notice the change in routine all week. Last night he cried at bedtime for a few minutes, but I had done his bath before dinner, which really messed him up I think.

Through the week, he sometimes had a nap bottle, and sometimes didn't, depending on if he ate lunch or not. His naptime still falls at lunchtime and if he's too tired, or not hungry enough, he won't eat. I tried giving milk in his sippy and he wouldn't drink it.

He seems to be very attached to the morning bottle - he asks for it first thing. Since I'm not big on starting breakfast right away, I think that will be his last bottle to drop. It's just my preference. We cuddle with a bottle and play a bit before work. Then when our nanny starts (at 8am), she feeds him breakfast. I love my relaxing mornings with him.
