Thought this was worth sharing as there are some good tips and techniques mentioned. My son definitely has some angry outbursts since he's at an age where he can't quite express what he's upset about. We've used the "hit a pillow" idea, but I think this gives a few more ideas that might work better.

Hi Kellie! Thanks for bringing some more awareness to positive parenting. I used to think like you in that hitting something like a pillow was a harmless way to blow off steam. A few years ago I read about a study that said it may not be the best thing. It almost suggested that it was giving kids the go-ahead to hit, period. I got the jest that it wanted kids to learn more productive and long term solutions. I don't know if that's true but something I remembered, which is rare with this 50 yr old menopausal brain of mine ;)
