This year we have a new administrator.  I LOVE her!  She is so realistic and has great ideas, she makes me feel like a better teacher.  She also is giving use more freedom and says do what is right for the kids.  It has inspired me to try all these things I have wanted to do for the last several years that I knew my previous administrator would never have gone for.  But my daughter is in daycare at this great home, but she only takes teachers kids and expects pick up at 4:15.  I have enough time at the end of the day to take a breath, check my e-mail and then I need to leave to pick her up on time.  I have found someone to pick her up 2 times a week for me to stay late, but it is still hard.  I am so frustrated that I have all of this freedom and am so inspired to try new things, but I can not because of my daycare situation.

I'm in the same boat! My DH does the morning drop off at school and I do the afternoon pick-up. Both girls attend an after-school program but pick up is 4:30 and I'm 30 minutes away - so school ends at 3:10 and I have about 45 minutes to finish up the days work and head out to get the girls.

For me, the answer is to come in early. I used to be better about this but now the girls are requesting "mom" in the morning for hair-do's, etc. more and more. We have to be at work by 8:00am and I find that if I get there by about 7 I can get a lot done....it's quiet, not many co-workers stopping by to chat and best of all my energy level is much better than at the end of the day when I'm usually drained.

Good luck finding a way to make things work for everyone!

I think Judy has a good suggestion. It's either that or you have to change who takes and picks her up, get a new sitter, or give up on making the changes to your classes right now.

Tough call!
