My 3rd TTC cycle just ended in AF, so I'm on to the 4th. I was reading over TCOYF, and it says to seriously consider fertility testing once you've been TTC for about 4 months AND charting to know that you're timing intercourse right. That's what we've been doing, so I feel like if it doesn't happen next month, I may need to worry. DH thinks that's way too soon. What do you think?

If you have your chart online, can you share the link?  I'd love to take a look at your chart and see if anything jumps out at me as being an alarm bell ringer.  If everything is normal, I'd say 6 months of ttc before you go to the doctor, but if there's something showing on your chart then you should go sooner.

Keep in mind that the human reproductive system is incredibly inefficient anyway (which is good for the earth's population but bad when you're ttc, eh?)  So, in a given cycle with everything perfectly timed, only 25% of couples will succeed.

Oh, boy, are we worrying about the same thing! I was also just re-reading this in TCOYF just two weeks or so ago, and I started to panic since this is our fourth month. My DH also thinks that this is too soon, especially since we've conceived two children together already. I agree that I thought the same thing, but then part of me got worried that maybe something is going on hormonal with one of us that is preventing it from being so easy this time around. I think DH just doesn't want to have to go through with having to give a semen sample...I should just remind him of all the stuff women have to go through (pap smears, internals, mammograms)...LOL! Best of luck, and I hope you get your BFP soon!

Sorry I've been away so long. It's been a crazy month, and I haven't been anywhere on iVillage as much as usual. Also, somehow I was totally convinced that I was pregnant this time. No go, but I also wasn't as disappointed as I was the previous month.

My TCOYF book says it's a 25% chance each cycle without charting to increase the odds. Do you know the chances with charting? I don't think she gives a number.

Anyway, here's the link to my chart. If I don't do it right, I'll try to fix it. The weird thing is that this month my temp hasn't dropped back down, and that's never happened before. But I definitely got AF, full force as usual.

Thanks for looking! I didn't mean to be rude by not replying before now. You're awfully kind to reply in the first place.

Stephanie - I haven't been able to get to the computer much for the last little while and reply, but it was comforting to know someone was in the same boat. And especially now I look at your chart and see you're pregnant! Congratulations!

My DH is the same as yours was; he's fine if I want to get something tested, but he isn't keen on doing it himself. And probably there's no problem, but it's hard not to wonder when things aren't going the way I think they should.

Well, maybe my BFP is right around the corner. Yours makes me feel better either way! Congrats again, and have a healthy 9 months!
