Today dd and I were out shopping for her final prom "necessities" and idk how but we got on the subject of prom court and she was telling me who prom queen and king were gonna be. Here's the story: J is a girl of I'll say low self esteem and a high number of sexual partners. R is a major jock. J and R "hooked up" during a drunken night (there was also a 3rd party involved - another guy). R is wicked embarassed about it so all of his jock guys came up with the plan to nominate J prom queen and R prom king - since they will have to dance with each other. Needless to say, I was appalled by this "plan" - and see it as a way to encourage her "behavior" and "reward" her for it. Nonetheless the younger girls that will witness this and strive to be just like her!! I guess R is furious about it and may now not attend his prom.
Not only is the girl being showcased with the whole prom queen fiasco - I guess some of the guys in their class made a video of superlatives where they actually pulled her out of class today (the teacher was not there) and informed her she was voted the Class S**t. DD says she laughs the stuff off and doesn't appear to be phased about it.
I'm just beside myself with this - DD and I talked in depth about all of this and I know she "gets it" but does she really get it?
