Just finally decided to try this. (I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray). I read about it here, and talked to people about it at my WW meetings, but never tried it in the past over a year I've been on WW... I just gave up butter. PERIOD. Ate dry toast, or used SF jelly or the Better'n Peanut Butter stuff. But NO butter. Ate veggies plain, used FF plain yogurt or FF sour cream or FF salsa on baked potatoes. Made mashed potatoes without butter (DH added at the table). Etc. NO BUTTER! LOL! :D And even at goal, I am NOT going to add butter back into my regular eating diet. My "Multifit" folks through my health care recommend NOT using butter AT ALL. Too high in fat. No real nutritional benefit. And having had a triple bypass, well, obviously butter is not in my future. LOLOL! :P
The bottle of this stuff says "5 sprays" so I did that on my piece of toasted Milton's Multi Grain bread today, trying the spray for the first time. Certainly didn't cover the slice of bread, and I tried spreading it around, which didn't work. I'm not too sure of the benefit of even using it, as I can't taste anything different on the bread, than when I eat it just dry toasted. So, does anyone else actually taste this stuff? And what do you think? I'll try it on my steamed veggies and on the bread for toasted cheese sandwiches (with low fat cheese), etc. But I'm not really impressed after my first use.
I've looked at the ICBINB spreads and other so-called healthy spreads, but the amount of saturated fat still seems awfully HIGH to me. Even if much lower than regular butter or margerine. So I haven't gone there. Besides, the containers are too big and DH won't use it, so I was afraid it will spoil if I bought it for just me. I was hoping this spray stuff would last for months & months... But if it doesn't really add any taste, why bother? :O Did I just waste my $$$?
Blessings,
Gypsy

I haven't tried it but here is my own thought / opinion....
Products like that are for those that are trying to get off the real stuff or for those that really crave that buttery flavor (myself included). You are doing great without it and don't feel like you're missing anything...right? So why put those chemicals in your body??
I haven't used butter on corn on the cob for years, long before I began my WW journey last year. ;) So, I don't miss it. I love the taste of the corn all by itself. No salt. No butter. I like the taste of the veggies all by themselves, too. I think mostly I was missing the taste on toasted cheese sandwiches. :P DH & I traditionally have a movie night w/ soup & toasted cheese sandwiches on Saturday nights. For my toasted cheese sandwich, I've been spraying PAM on the outside of the bread, and using the lowfat cheese. It tastes alright, but just not as good, you know? ;) So, mostly I hoped ICBINB would help with that. And sometimes on my hi fiber muffin (1 point) I miss the taste of butter. But if it doesn't do well as to taste, on toasted stuff, it's kind of a waste of money for me, I think. I don't miss anything on veggies. I will try it on a baked potato vs. the FF sour cream or plain yogurt next time, too. Otherwise, if it doesn't improve the flavors for the toasted cheese or add variety to the baked potato, I'll just dump it.

;) Yeah, I'm not just starting out, trying to eliminate major offenders like butter from my regular diet, so I see what you are saying here. :P As I just posted to Sue, though, my major missing it has always been on the bread for toasted cheese sandwiches. So, I will give that a try and see how it goes. And on the baked potato, for a littel variety from the FF sour cream/plain yogurt or salsa. Otherwise, I won't be using it. :P
