I have looked at their menu, and they do not have nutritional info on their web site. <:// Did some googling and what I found is definitely *NOT* encouraging for someone who had a triple bypass. YIKES! <:O They brag about big servings, too, which is a major heads up, too!
It's a family gathering thing coming up in early December, and I didn't have a voice in the choice of the restaurant. It was their turn to choose, ROFL! :D So... Anybody know this restaurant? Any suggestions for healthier choices on the menu?
Here's what I've come up with so far, which is really limited:
1. side salad w/ low fat Ranch dressing 2. dry (no toppings) sweet potato 3. skewered shrimp (tell them to hold the butter sauce stuff, although the marinade I'm stuck with, as *all* their meats are treated with it, and it is high in sugar).
I also read that their chili, a cup serving, isn't too high in the saturated fat and other fats... I'm leery of their chicken, but grilled w/o their sauces, might also work. Also, I'll only eat half of what I'm served, likely... I want to avoid too much marinade or BBQ sauce because of the high sodium content (as well as likely hidden sugar).
So, any other suggestions about what I could reasonably eat??? ;))
Blessings,
Gypsy

I would also suggest that as a future customer you e-mail them and ask that they consider making their nutritional information public. The more pressure they get, the harder it will be to resist!
I've been there, but it's been awhile. On the lowfat ranch thing, I always question how low fat the dressing actually is in a restaurant without having an opportunity to read the facts and make sure they are really putting on the low fat (like asking for decaf coffee, how do you really know that's what you get?). Just get the dressing on the side, just in case it's not that low fat.
I would order grilled fish and/or shrimp without sauce, like you said. I did want to point out they do have salmon, which is great and also a good choice. I would also ask for steamed veggies instead of whatever other side they offer.
They are very good and they do have large portions, but only if you get their signature dishes. If you order grilled fish and steamed veggies, I don't think they are going to overload you.
Have fun! Great food!

Another suggestion is to ask for a to go box with your meal. That way you can measure out only what you want to eat for portion size and save the rest for another meal. It sounds like you're already making smart choices and I'm sure they'll work with you. :) Great food.
I did find all 3 of these web sites in my googling. I question the my fitness pal site a bit, though, because it notes no saturated fat for the "loaded" sweet potato. Somehow, I can't believe that. "Fully loaded" usually means butter, sour cream, all "full bore full fat" and it notes *no* saturated fat for that item?! I don't think so! <:/ Makes me wonder just how accurate that site is...you know? As for the calorie lab one, it gives NO info in their charts. Just the DRI info for the nutritional elements. So, there's actually no info for any of the Roadhouse foods, specific to the menu item itself. I checked your link, hoping it was different, but all the values are blank for it on your link as well as the one I found for them. :( I have used this site before, for other restaurants, and had the actual nutritional values entered in the chart portion, but not there for the Texas Roadhouse. <:// In fact, I just did a search on that site for Denny's, just to see if the site is having problems, but all kinds of nutritional info on the chart for the various menu items came up. Yet all blank for Texas Roadhouse. Are you seeing that as all blank, also, like I am? Why bother having the chart for a restaurant, when they provide no nutritional information? Weird...
Thank you so much for your efforts, though! I appreciate it! :))
