I had my son at age 19 and was working at wendys for $8 an hour. I had an efficiency, no phone, no tv, and no car. That was part of my budget. I have never received assistance or child support. My family was raised to be responsible for our own choices. You do not need all that stuff to survive because as I remeber I didn't die on the spot for not having phone ect... I would never expect other people to pay my bills because it is not their place or responsibility. No one made me have sex. You need to work out your bills according to your budget.

Golf clap for you really. A phone is needed with children, it just is, especially if a child has any sort of medical problems.

A car is also sometimes needed to get to work and school and so on.

I'm so glad you lived your life how you did, its your life so your choice. Others might choose to be on assistance temporarily to improve their lives. Their life, their choice.

Also there were no buses that went to my job so I walked 4 miles to work and 4 miles back, so I don't believe a car is a necessity either unless you live way out of town. Most women I see on assistance are overweight and it would probably be good for them to get exersize. I personally don't believe in assistance. My grandparents had 10 kids and never received assistance. Neither did my mom who is single has 5 kids and my dad only paid her $250 a month for all five, and we turned out ok. I see it too often that when the parents stay on assistance, their kids follow their footsteps and are told it is ok. My friends who were raised as I was all have jobs and going to school, and most are wise enough to use birth control or refrain from sex. If they do have kids they work 2 jobs and still make time for their kids. I work overtime at my job and work 80 hours a week sometimes. Why should I pay other people's bills when I'm struggling to pay my own.

You are making a heck of a lot of assumptions here.

Good for you for walking 4 miles...would you expect young children to do the same?

Most women you see on assistance are overweight? How do you know they are on assistance? Do you walk up to overweight women and ask about their financial situation?

So many things in that post i could question but i really cannot be bothered, those are just a few things which stood out to me.

Also you say you work 80 hours a week...with a child? Seriously? How do you manage that? Well i suppose perhaps if you were on assistance for a short period of time to go back to school you wouldn't need to work 80 hours a week. (unless of course you tell me you are a doctor or something in which case you wouldn't really be struggling to pay your bills)

I've lived without a phone.

CPS didn't come knocking to take my children away for neglect.
