My beautiful 7 year old kitty girl was diagnosed with breast cancer today.  On Saturday we go for her x-rays to determine if it has spread to her lungs (a deciding factor on how and if she can be treated going forward).  I am incredibly saddened by this since I absolutely adore her.

I would love to hear from others who have gone through this with their babies.

Thanks so much.

Welcome to the board and sorry I didn't respond earlier, I didn't see this post (usually everyone posts in the top folder, the bottom one is for other CL's to advertise their boards).

I have a lot of experience with this (in a professional way, being a vet tech for over 20 years...). Was she ever spayed and if she was, was it when she was older? That is generally the biggest reason why cats get mammary tumors. If a cat is spayed before the first heat (usually around 5-6 months of age), it pretty much guarantees that she will not get mammary tumors.

I wish you and your baby the best and hope it hasn't spread to her lungs! Keep us posted!

Michelle, I'm so sorry to hear about your cat, and also sorry for not responding sooner.  For some reason this post never showed up the previous times I've logged in.  What happened with the follow up vet visit?

I'm thinking of you.
