I took Sally Allan my st bernard for her fist ever grooming yesterday, she had the works, bathed cut, nails ears, everything.

She was there for 4 hours.

She looks great, but the problem is she seems so sad and down in the dumps now.

The groomer did say sally was a little stressed.

Do you think it's just stress or she is mad at me for taking her to be greemed?

Its breaking my heart to see her like this.

Does anyone have any ideas to make her happy again?

Or do you think this will pass?

Thanks.

Von.

Hi Von....how is Sally doing today?  I think she may have been a little stressed out being at the groomer's for 4 hours....especially since it was her first time.

When we brought our Cleo for her first bath at Petco she was really knocked out when she came home.....

Many hugs to your little girl....

The one thought I had: in view of her being sleepy & sick is: did the groomer sedate or medicate her in anyway? Some times a grooming shop will sedate a dog that is nervous or they don't think they can handle (and some have been known to do this w/o letting the owners know or asking permission) since she was there for so long and they admit she was "stressed" I'm thinking they gave her something and she is having a reaction.

I would call the groomer and ask them - if they did I certainly would stay away from this groomer in the future! A good grooming shop should be able to handle a dog (even a large) one without medication or if they do so - they should be upfront about it!

Even if they did and she is having a reaction she may just "get over" it naturally or you may want to check with your vet.
