They are both still going strong for now. They are still peeing in the house. We put down pads, atleast Tenny is going in there to pee, its Christy that likes to pee in the kitchen for some reason! LOL!

Chirsty is driving me crazy, she will go to the back door and wine and wine wanting out to only walks around the porch and bark for a min then wants back in, she does like 10 times a hour, then she will go into the kitchen and pee.

its Tenny we are more worried about, Last night We came home from going out to eat and couldn't find her anywhere. I knew she wasn't out side when we left. I should've locked them up in the office, I will for now on no matter what.

We found her after 20mins of looking everywhere, she was between the couch and end table, just standing there, she had peed and was just standing there. when we got her out of there, she was just shaking and acting lost. This morning she is back to herself.

With her being 'black' you couldnt' see her in there until I got down on knees as I was looking for the flash light for DH to go outside to see if he could find her.

I put a box between the couch and end tables now so they can't get in there.

That is where we stand right now....just glad Im not working so Im here full time with them.

Hi Meme! I'm sorry the girls are having problems. It wasn't that long ago that you had them at the vet was it? I'm not a vet but it sounds like they're beginning to show signs of canine cognitive disfunction. Here's a link about it http://www.cpvh.com/Articles/4.html I don't have any experience with canine cognitive disfunction but other ladies here have experienced it with their dogs and hopefully they'll chime in and help you out.

Poor Tenny getting stuck in between the end table and the couch! I bet she was glad to see you. I agree that confining them somewhere when you're gone might be helpful. The above link mentions a medicine called anipryl which might help too.

Thank you for the update Meme! I was thinking about you and the girls. I'm sorry about you not working but like you said- right now, it's nice you can keep an eye on Christy & Tenny.

Poor little frightened lost dog!

Could you crate them when you leave them alone?  Confine them to the laundry room, maybe?

I do lock them up in the office, we have doors and that is where thier bed is. Last night I just didn't do it! I felt bad that I didn't after what happen.

Yes we know they have "canine cognitive disfunction", Our Vet said to put them on any med "might help some" but at thier ages, it would really be a waste, As they are 17 and 15yrs old. if they were younger like 10yrs it would be different but that at thier age it wont really help them. It would not help them to live longer or keep them from dying, but maybe make things better for me on the peeing thing buts about it. They are really healthy other than that. Both are doing well, just have to keep a eye on them and not get mad at their mess ups! LOL!

Today I checked out all 'small areas' that I thought maybe they might get into and covered them all up, and even moved a few other things out of the office so there is nothing in their way. Just have to stay on top it, they have been the best dogs, and have given me a ton of joy, now its time for me take better care of them. I will.

Meme,

I read your post and am so sorry you are having problems with your girls. (I do find my older furbabies are very weather-sensitive. The 14yr old (in Nov) Baby hides under a blanket, the 12yr old Pooh 'hits the floor' and crawls under anything he can find, and 10yr old Angel goes in and out and barks if you try to stop her. This usually starts about 12hr before a front moves through. (I can always tell because I have migraines that start about then, too.) Just a thought. We crate ours, too, before we leave the house, but have had one get out and wreak havoc. You have given excellent care to get them this far!

When Baby started wetting  in the wrong places, I was resistant to the Proin; I was afraid it might hurt her, and I felt she was just naturally aging; somehow it seemed 'unnatural' to treat her. But I was given a great deal of encouragement here on the safety. It is inexpensive, too. Like you, I know that it won't make her live longer, but it does ease things. I have to admit that she has seemed confused more, especially at night, and restless. We worried. Sometimes she looks lost. But today I noticed on the label that the Proin CAN cause irritability and restlessness. So, like you, we have several "stations" for her paper. Wishing you the very best with your sweet girls,

Gayle
