I saw an ad on Craigslist recently that a rescue had just received a huge number of ferrets from a different state and they are adopting them out. I went by yesterday afternoon (I am nuts) and met the rescue and the ferrets. The rescue is mostly a dog rescue but is very familiar with ferrets and ocassionally rehomes them. I had no idea they were even in the area. When I got there, there were several cages of ferrets and she said she had 20 left after fostering and rehoming the other 26. I think I'm going back today to get 2 of the boys. She let a group of them out to play and they jumped and bounced around like crazy. They weren't very skittish and were so friendly. I really enjoy the energy that a blaze silver mitt was putting out. He was full of joy and was literally bouncing off the walls, doing the ferret wardance. It was awesome. They were all clean and had recently had their nails clipped. I don't know how the rescues do it! She said they probably hadn't been out of their cages before she got them and they've put on weight since she got them.

Anyhow, I can't stop thinking about them. I'm hoping that they will get along with Teddy and Kodi and of course she'll take them back if they don't. I've scheduled a vet visit for Tuesday which is the earliest my fert vet was available. Wish me luck. I'll post pics when I get a chance.

How exciting! I can't wait to hear how everything goes! I'm sure Kodi and Teddy will just love their new brothers. It's great that you're adopting some furkids in need and giving them the good home they deserve! Good luck!

The introductions went well! Yay! One is a male silver blaze who I named Panda Bear - I realize he isn't a true panda color but I love the name. The other is a female (surprise) light cinnamon color who I named Pooh Bear. So far, Panda, Pooh, Teddy & Kodi are all getting along great! It was funny, they all chased each other in circles for the past few hours and when i put them in the cage they all got in the same hammy except Pooh- she wanted to sleep on the towels on the floor of the cage. Here are some pics

They are soooooooooo gorgeous Greta!!! I can see why you were drawn to them. And I'm thrilled that everyone is getting along well. Ferrets are funny, when they get along it's like they were born soul mates, and when they don't get along, look out you're in for trouble.

Kashmir was instantly best friends with Crème from their first play date so when he came to live with me it was like he'd always been there. However when I lost my Digger boy I immediately got another ferret so Digger's cagemate Madeline wouldn't be alone. Coincidently the new ferret Krycek (I got him from a shelter and I had no choice in who I was getting) was actually like Digger, in looks and in personality. I mean looking back I can barely remember which ferret did what because it was almost like Digger came back and was in Krycek's body, they were so exactly the same. Apparently though, Maddy did not agree with me and she HATED Krycek. She tried to kill him. She was a pound and half smaller than him but she was out for blood. It took two years for her to except him so I had to have separate cages and separate play times. It was really annoying since I was trying to balance out time for my rats as well. Eventually after 3 apartment moves with these ferrets Maddy decided she liked Krycek after all and they spent the rest of her days (she passed away first) together.

All that to say: it's so nice when ferrets get along and love one another. I'm glad it's working out and that you were able to help out this shelter. It sounds like they had a crazy amount of ferrets to find homes for!!!

Keep us posted on everything, I love hearing about dancy little ferrets with lots of energy:)

They are adorable! I'm glad everyone is getting along and having fun. I've been really lucky and all my ferrets get along wonderfully. When we first got Simon though, he was a monster! He was as big as a large chipmunk but he would bully the older two and drag them around by their faces!! They had to be separated till he calmed down but thankfully it didn't take long. Have fun with the new furkids!!!
