The new ferts had their first yearly exam and thier first shots yesterday. They were very good ferts. Panda didn't even bite when he got his shot. They both weighed in over 2 pounds! Wow... and I thought they were little. I had a ferret a few years ago who never topped more than 3/4 of a pound so these bigger ferrets are kind of new to me. The vet said that Panda might be normal... or he might just be unaltered. AAACCKK... He's already settled down in the past 4 days so I'm hoping he's just a hyper boy. We're going back for the next shots next week.

It's funny in the waiting room when you have a ferret. People are fascinated by them.

I'm glad that the kids' vet visit went so well!! I know what you mean about going in with a ferret. People are always so interested. When I take my rats in it is always fun too. Hope things continue to go well!

Hi Greta, sorry for the later than usual post on this post. I was happy to hear that the vet visit went well...I guess all ferrets are different depending on their sex, them personally and whether or not they have been altered, and their age too.

everyone falls in love and is fascinated with Miss Beatrix when she goes to the vet too, they are so used to seeing cats and dogs, that I think when other patients parents see a ferret or a hamster or gerbils/guinea pig, they are not used to it and they see what makes us love our furry ones so much, and I also think they generally have respect for us that we care for our pets as we do and bring them to the vet when they need to go etc. I hate to say that a lot of people don't do what we do with our pets and it isn't as common (unfortunately) as we all know...for vets to be seeing hamster, ferrets etc as much as they see other pets like cats and dogs...I guess another part of this is the fact that so many people have cats and dogs, and even though a lot of us have small animals too much more people have the cats and dogs...am I rambling, I hope I am making sense! lol
