Napoleon and Louis got into another big fight again this morning and Louis bit Po in the abdomen and left a pretty bad wound so we went to the vet and the vet stitched him up and said it was really deep and long but thankfully it didn't hit any organs or muscle.  It went from his abdomen up under his neck. My poor baby! Thank god my husband was right there when it happened and we got to the vet within 30 minutes. Obviously Louis will be living in his own cage from now on. I'm so upset with him. I know he doesn't have the capacity to know what he did but Po is my baby. He's such a mama's boy and Louis isn't, he doesn't really like to be held or cuddled or anything.

The vet tried to make a little body bandage for Po so he wouldn't get at his stitches but he wiggled right out of it. Does anyone have any advice on how to keep him from pulling out his stitches? The vet said to keep him away from them for about 24hrs and after that it's usually not an issue (they kinda get used to them). Right now he's napping but he was cleaning the stitches a little. I was able to pet him and distract him but I'm worried about when I'm not right there to see him do it. I can probably spend most of the day in the den to watch him but after I go to bed, he'll be unsupervised.

Keep your fingers crossed and hope for a speedy recovery for Po!

Oh Margaret! I'm so sorry the boys had a fight! Poor little Napoleon! I agree that Louis doesn't really know what he did but I understand about you being upset.

How are Napoleons stitches today? How's he doing? Do you have a carrier that you use to take them to the vet? I keep my ferrets in the carrier with litter in the bottom if they have to "recuperate" from any procedure. That way I can carry them with me and keep an eye on them. Here's a pic of ^Ziggy^ who had seizures and passed away 3 years ago- but you can see how I set it up for him.

Thanks Greta! The carrier idea is great! I never would've thought of that. Whenever my furkids have had surgery or been really sick, I've put them in the den and stayed there and slept on the floor. The carrier would've been a better and more comfortable option :)

Napoleon is recovering wonderfully so far! He slept most of the day yesterday and I was so worried about him.  He was having trouble getting around because of the pain and he was so groggy (probably from the anesthesia) Then he woke up when I gave him some fresh food and fruits and veggies and he wanted to come out of his cage to play. I was considering it when he started climbing the side of the cage! So I took him out and he ran around for a while (I was watching him like a hawk though so he didn't jump up or climb on anything). And he cleaned around his stitches but after they were clean, he has left them alone! He is being such a good patient. I'm amazed! My husband gets the sniffles and he's on the couch for a week whining! And Po got about 7 stictches and just took a nap and is acting like he's all better! I'm so proud of my little guy! When he was running around last night, he went past Louis's cage and Louis puffed his fur up! I'm still mad at him. I didn't let him out to play last night. I feel bad but I don't want Po in his cage wanting to come out and see Louis running around playing. I'll take him out tonight though.

Thanks for asking about Po!

That's great news!!! I'm so glad he's recuperating so quickly. And for him not to mess with his stitches is wonderful. What a good boy. I hope he just keeps getting better and better. Keep us updated okay?

(men are terrible at being sick aren't they- I have one just like yours- LOL- I hope he feels better too)

Louis probably needed a long time-out anyhow. And I personally think it helps him to see Napoleon out when he isn't, just so he doesn't keep on thinking he's the boss. Good luck with him.

Oh no...I am so sorry that this happened. I am glad that Po is recovering and hope he continues to recover and will heal in now time at all...I will send some reiki his way if you like and some good positive healing thoughts too.

Best to all!
