I can't "do" video. I am a person with hearing loss and need closed captioning for video as I cannot make out the words otherwise. So, what is this tax? Federal? State? What's the story? Do you have a link that's not video? When I google I found these links:

http://www.contracostatimes.com/opinion/ci_13601798?nclick_check=1

and,

http://www.contracostatimes.com/opinion/ci_13601798?nclick_check=1

http://www.ksdk.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=188703

about a propsed tax DEDUCTION. Is this it? As you posted an article back on August 28 about this, is this an update?

Please clarify. Thanks! :)

Blessings,
Gypsy

Yes, the HAPPY Act would be a $3500 tax deduction.

At the time I thought it would be for just perhaps larger animals such as cats, dogs, etc. but it seems it could also cover pets right down to lizards and turtles?

And is just as bad of an idea as it was last time we discussed it, if not more so.

True enough! I think they should eliminate deductions for "human" childcare as well, though. Even if we spent over $2,000 on Mika for health issues in the first 6 months we had her. A few decades ago we could deduct interest paid on our credit cards, car loans, and such as well. Now we cannot; only for our house mortgage. For that matter, "kids" are a "voluntary* choice just like pets, so why deductions for them? LOL!
