I had my 6 year old female cat and 4 month old male kitten fixed last week. In  the past day or so, my female cat has been licking the kitten, letting the kitten jump on top of her and is being very nice to him. Before the  fixings, the female couldn't stand the kitten. The female cat has been very nice to us, which is rare since she normally only sits on our lap or rubs up against us if she was in heat.

Is this normal behavior? Could it be hormonal? :)

I'm really not sure but I guess it could be that she's feeling better by not going through heat cycles now.

Somehow I missed this post.  Yes fixed pets(dogs and cats) make much better pets behaviorally speaking as they don't have all the crazy hormonal issues.  ;)  Going through heat cycles as often as often as unspayed female cats do isnt' healthy for the cat.  They can cycle in and out of heat frequently if not bred and the physical demands of going through that shouldn't be underestimated.  I'm sure she's MUCH happier now so it stands to reason that she's a little nicer to those around her.
