Congratulations on your new chinchilla. I love the name Dusty!

I have 5 chinchillas and am happy to help with any questions. I have a brown velvet female named Cocoa, 3 grey males named Chili, Baby Luv, and Penn, and a white mosaic male named Powder.

I have learned a lot over the years with chins. I am thrilled to have someone else to chat to about them. :-)

By the way, that is awesome you're studying to be a vet tech! I want to do that also, but so far I can't afford to take two years off to take the classes. I'd love to know more about the distance learning option. Your name sounded familiar to me and I think you helped me once or twice on the old Fins & Feathers board. I am still going to bird shows but haven't gotten any bird of my own yet. I want an Eclectus Parrot someday.

dusty is white, but not pure white - hence the name. this is the first chinchilla i've owned, and i'm loving it!

i like distance learning option. its work at your pace, but no longer than a year per semester. you get one course at a time to work on, and you have tests online & have to participate on the message board & in webinars. i started in jan this year, and i'm on my 2nd last class in the 1st semester. i didnt plan to take this long, but when we moved in may, school work was on hold for a while. and some times i just dont feel like working on it - you have to keep motivated!
